Struggling In The Flat Winter Light

I have been struggling the last couple days to get anything decent photographically. The flat gray winter days with dismal light is tough. Trying many shutter speeds and shooting mostly with my most open aperture. Saw the field mouse in the first image and it was so close I could not shoot it with my long lens. The only other lens I had was a wide angle. So I reached out to within a couple feet and used flash to catch its picture. It was feeding on spilled grain and must have been hungry enough to not scare off. The weather cool but not cold. Walked a lot and a few old haunts to¬† get as much as I could. Still not a lot of active critters about…

  1. I know what you mean about the light. I had a tough time of it today myself.
    You got some fine shots though! I like the mouse and the pelicans.

      One of those stretches were a glimpse of sunshine would feel great. Saw that the snow and winter was back up there. Been cool here but not cold, heavy rain ease d up for us which is welcome as well…
