  1. Nice shots of the cardinal. I hope to see some cardinal flowers tomorrow. A lady wrote and told me where they were.
I like that shot of the herons too!

While all your photographs are particularly good, those of Cardinals always stand out to me. NHG is right: The Cardinal photos are special.
A couple of questions: The birds in both photos look kind of “thin”. Are they mature but still young? And on the 2nd Cardinal photo the crest seems to be “gone”; but I’m guessing it’s the tilt of the head that makes it seem there is no crest on the head. Am I right or wrong? Perhaps it’s an entirely different kind of bird? But I doubt that.
One more thing: I liked the first photo of your Aug. 2 post; something about it is particularly eye catching. MCS

      Mary S,
The cardinals are not in the best feathering now. Some moulting or coming out of moult. The cardinals can raise or lower the crest. It was the same cardinal in both pics. Looked like an adult. I think that was joe pye pye weed on the 2nd of August pic. The blooms caught the sun just as it was burning off the morning mist. Thank You…
