Rainy Days

The past two days have been rainy ones. We have only had a glimpse of the sun now and then. Such as the first image today. Then the rain came yet again. Still going through the images of the eagles feeding on the deer carcass from Friday in the fog and rain. The eagles fed for an hour and a half on the deer. The female was always the one to drag the carcass around to get access to more of the meat that remained on the carcass. The female from this pair seems to often use her size and strength to accomplish tasks. The eagles seem to have left the river area where they have been in the afternoons. They have been spilling a lot of water for a couple weeks now. The lakes are falling very fast now and lots of mudflats and gravel shorelines available now for eagles to drag a large fish up on the banks from the lakes and feed for a day or two on one fish carcass. The pelicans also have left the river area and returned to the lakes. The pelicans prefer to have a place they can rest on the banks such as the mud flats and gravel banks. Supposed to have some sun today. It will be a welcome change for a day. The weather has been warm as well with highs in the sixties. We are to go back towards winter temps Monday…

  1. Being a bird must be tough in that weather, even if you’re an eagle.
We’re supposed to have sunshine and temps above freezing this week, so not too bad.
