Great finds for the short time out. I’m fascinated by the Fledglings vs Adults. AND even more so, the details of the ‘feet’/’nails’ and how they all grasp the many different things the birds land on. But the winners are the Goldfinch on Thistle! I never would have guessed that that prickly plant provided food, and that seed have ‘wings’ to carry it away. Enjoy those grands.

      Ellen,
The light was poor so I don’t think the goldfinches saw me. They are usually spooky when that close. Enjoy when they eat the thistles also the sunflowers we plant they eat every seed unless we cover the heads to save seed for next year with paper lunch bag. They also like the cone flowers and we have to be sure to get some of their seed before they eat them all. The young cardinals are so splochy it is hard to tell if they will be male or female at this age. Will enjoy the grand kids…

I didn’t know you were getting so much rain. It can’t last forever.
You got some great shots! I like the ones of the goldfinches picking thistle seeds. I saw them doing that here last fall.
    Have fun with the kids!

      New Hampshire Gardener,
Not great amounts of rain just a bit every day it seems. Thank You. Like to watch the goldfinches pluck the seeds. Will do…

      Jerry,
Doing fine. Been away at the grandkids and they will be here next week. Trying to get an old boat running to let them have some lake fun. Will try to get out and photograph sometime by next week. Thank You for asking hope all is well with you and yours…

Glad you have had time at grand kids and that you are doing fine. I’ve wondered too. Happy for you.

      Ellen,
Grandkids just left but a lot of bushogging to do on the farm now. So not getting out to photograph. Grandids back the end of the week for two more weeks so will still be a while before getting out to photograph…
