Mostly Peregrine Falcons At Kentucky Dam

Back home for a few days. Spent a couple hours below Kentucky Dam. The highlight of which was watching the Peregrine Falcons. The two juvenile falcons learning and mastering their flying skills. Chasing Osprey, chasing each other, chasing Cormorants. Watching the adults flying along with a bird. Allowing a juvenile to take a bird from its talons in flight. Heading home yet again thankful for the chance to observe the wonders outdoors. Will be heading back to spend more time with our Louisville bunch. Spend time helping with the grandkids when we are needed. Not sure when my next post will be. Maybe tomorrow if I see anything cool this morning. Stop by when you can and Thank You…

Excellent series of shots! It’s amazing how they interact with each other. I finally found them and have been able to get several shots of them. (Nothing quite like these though.) They are very interesting and entertaining to watch.
Enjoy your time with your grandkids!

  2. Amazing birds, and great shots of them.
Have fun with the grand kids!

      New Hampshire Gardener,
Yes, they are and thank you. Surprised that ya’ll have been lacking rain as you said on your last post. We have been pounded with storm after storm with heavy rains the past few weeks…

Wow! School’s in session. Peregrine parents teaching by participation not just example. Terrific pix and fascinating first hand commentary. Subject change, Grands are so important. By that I mean Grandpas (& Grandmas) spending time with the Grand Kids. A big help to the generation in between too. Enjoy.

      Ellen Bunnell,
Yes, fascinating how they participate in teaching the young. Thank You. A lot of who I am I truly believe is from time spent with my grandmother an amazing woman…
