The odd perspective of the photo below makes the gull look larger than the heron. You can see the wing of the gull is behind the heron’s legs. Made me think of how in Football and Baseball they will change calls made by refs and umps today due to video replay. Bet the replay’s get it wrong at times too…

  1. I was thinking the gulls must be huge. Glad it’s just an illusion!
Nice to see the pelicans again. What an amazing river you have with so many fish in it.
    Nice shots!

      New Hampshire Gardener,
Gulls are large but I guess the angle was really misleading. Don’t recall a shot that gave such an illusion before. The first really chilly morning had the birds fighting to grab any scrap of fish that surfaced. Once picked up others would try for the steal. Thank You…

That really is an odd photo angle, but having read your comment it made me think of all the photos people take that make many things look small, by positioning the view. Not sure how to state that to make sense, but some photos like making it look like they are holding the moon, or making the moon look like it IS a Basketball. Makes sense that in Sports some calls are probably bad calls from the photos. Great pictures.

      Ellen,
I usually like shots with two species so I can see the size comparison. This one would sure fool a person. Thank You…
