Cloudy Morning At The River

Interesting early cloudy morning at the river. Watched a mink carry a fish as long as its body and wider about 150 yards before it disappeared in a hole in the rocks. Saw a cormorant chase another cormorant with a catfish causing it to drop it and make the steal. Don’t usually see the cormorants fighting over fish. Nice to see something different, it has been a while. Heading out to pick up two of the grandkids shortly. They will be visiting the farm for a week. So not sure when I will post again. Will try to get out early like this morning for an hour or so each day…

Glad you are shooting again. That mink is pretty amazing….and strong. Great shots! All very interesting.

      Teresa Bragg Rice,
The mink worked hard carrying that fish. Sometimes turning around and dragging it backwards up over rocks. Looked like a smaller mink too. It was interesting.

  2. I’ve never even seen two cormorants on the same body of water.
Nice shots of the mink and the herons.
    Have fun with the kids!

Jim, Great to see you back; GREAT SHOTS! Enjoy your week with the grandkids; how special they are!

Nice to ‘hear’ of new things too. Enjoyed every word. Wow, as usual on all the pix. The Mink muscling it meal, crazy determination. One of my favorite birds, the cormorants, fuss/fight over fish and the Heron with it’s itch and catch, fun story and great pix. Side note: I know you know how blessed you are to be able to have the grandkids so often. They have a real blessing in being with you and their grandmother too. Making memories. Enjoy.

      Ellen Bunnell,
Thank you. I too enjoy the cormorants as well as the heron. It is special to visit with the kids as well as watching grandma in her element. That I think is a blessing for the kids. Will enjoy…
