A Beautiful Spring Day In Western Kentucky

We had a beautiful spring day here in Western Kentucky. A nice way to end it when I assisted in the delivery of a newborn goat kid. Pulling the first one after the nanny was in labor for over an hour. The second one popped out within a minute. Always wonderful to view birth. How quickly the newborn kids take to their feet all wobbly at first. Then steady and looking for milk…

  1. I’m guessing helping a goat give birth is something most people can say they’ve never done, myself included.
I saw a woman with her car door open tugging on a leash today and out popped a goat. I expected a dog. It was in a store parking lot but I don’t know if the store let her bring it in or not.
    Nice shots!

      New Hampshire Gardener,
This kid was not bad to pull. Have had them when only the head was out I thought I was going to pull the head off. It never seemed to bother them. These are dwarf nigerian goats. Small and if you handle them a lot when they are young very good to handle. The first one my wife got used to walk with me and the dogs no leash needed. Ya never know what you might see from folks out and about. Walking a goat on a lead pretty tame. Thank You, had a pretty good day shooting…
