Warm Up

We had a big warm up yesterday. The temps rising to around 50 degrees. Thoughts of spring entered my head. The forecast had been for clear skies but the light was awful in the morning. The skies did clear out in the afternoon. It was a slow day where I was without much activity. Which often happens after an active day. It could be I spent my time looking in the wrong places which is always a possibility…

Slow day, wrong places? Great detail pix! Loved the very high nest sitter, the detail of the next is fascinating and the eagle somehow looks like it is ‘on duty’. The Red headed woodpecker’s tree trunk is covered with detail. And the piggy Pelican, you even know the kind of fish. Once again wrong place at the right time.

      Ellen Bunnell,
Thank You, It was tough shooting conditions in the morning but I like the challenge. Try to get detail and show the conditions. I have a tendency to crop to close trying to keep the image sizes small so they will load fast. Our dsl connection is very slow. For some reason I liked the head sticking up above the whole nest as the eagle watched for its mate. It is interesting to see the whole nests and how they are built. I did notice all the small shelf like fungus growing on the tree by the woodpecker. I did not see the hole while I was taking the picture. The woodpecker was making an odd chatttering sound they don’t make to often. Maybe I should have hung around and seen if the mate was inside the tree. Know where the tree is will check it again. The pelicans will try to take some huge fish. Sometimes they can get them down, sometimes not but they sure try…

  2. That pelican got quite a fish!
Great shots of the flying pelicans and the woodpecker!
