Time Spent A Waste Or Not?

This week I have spent a lot of time waiting. A lot of it a waste or not? Having observed the eagles nest for around five years now there comes a time when the eagles slow down on feeding their young. It is getting closer to the time for the now grown eaglets to leave the nest. Still I think it will be a couple weeks before they fledge. As I wait I get the feeling I had way way back in my school years. When I would be pretty sure I understood a subject yet had to keep going at it to prove a point? Then and now I was ready to move on to something else. In both cases the eaglets in the nest and me in the classroom. It might be a way of forcing the young to take that leap to the unknown….

  1. Waiting is a big part of nature study. I’ve been waiting for flowers to open but the cool rainy weather is holding them back. If nature teaches us anything it’s patience.
The merganser sure picked a strange place to sit and sure did the raccoon! Those are excellent shots!
Those look like locust leaves that the kite was picking. Can’t imagine why it would want them unless it was a honey locust, which is sweet.
It looks like it’s about time for that woodpecker to leave the nest too. It looks bigger than the parent.

      New Hampshire Gardener,
I don’ t think the mergansers have the same abilities as wood ducks to perch on branches. So a flat surface has to do. It makes one wonder why the kite picked the leaves only one I ever saw do that but I have not seen that many. Yes, the woodpecker chick looked about grown. Thank You for the compliments.

Hi Grampy, Love the Raccoon picture, as you know Raccoons are close to heart and mind, growing up with a special one esp. to my mom as it was close to her. Enjoying all your photos and blogs. Thank you!

      Susan Praetorius,
Yes, I do recall catching that raccoon on dark hollow road bridge if it is the same one. Thank You, looking forward to your visit.
