Slight Warm Up

We had a slight warm up today. The frigid weather rolling backĀ  in when the wind changed to back out of the north in late afternoon. Single digits around sunrise for several days in the forecast. Seeing eagles but not seeing any feed anywhere. Saw one chase a heron with a fish in the late afternoon. Food is getting scarce along the river. Pelicans will fly across the river when a gull lands next to a surfacing fish. The number of eagles around has declined. The birds must have headed some place else in search of food or are just hanging out waiting for better conditions. Odd winter for sure. Lots of ducks on the lakes and saw a lot of mergansers along the river. Difficult to get close to them as the hunting season has them spooky. Will get out when I can and keep trying…

  1. I hope your warmth comes this way. Even 10 degrees would look pretty good right now!
Great shots of the pelicans and that blue heron. I’m always surprised that birds and animals can take so much cold.

      New Hampshire Gardener,
Hope this storm missed ya’ll. Thank You. I should have mentioned in the post, notice the heron is facing the rocks not the water. No interest in feeding, just bearing up against the cold it looked like…
