Last Day Of November

The last day of November was overcast for most of the day. Not a lot of action. Only a light jacket required. The lake and river are low with very few fish surfacing for the birds to eat. Even the gulls have thinned out to a very few. The bird activity below the dams and on the lakes almost nil. Checked a few eagle nest locations with no activity observed. Saw a few ducks and a large flock of geese early. Only caught a few Hooded Mergansers in the afternoon. A few eagles were perched along the river. Not a one made any attempt to catch a fish. They headed off the river early going to roost I thought.  Supposed to get to around freezing in the morning, the first of December. Expect the activity to be slow again. We shall see…

  1. I wonder what that pelican had on it. It looks like a spot of mud.
Nice shots of the killdeer and mergansers. I had to laugh at that one.

      New Hampshire Gardener,
It looked darker than mud, possibly oil. Have seen their feathers stained before with mud and what looks like oil. Thank You. That female had her topknot raised a lot more than they usually do. It did look comical…
